Latin name: Chlorella vulgaris, Chlorella pyrenoidosa
Occurrence: freshwater, best conditions are found in Asia
Chlorella is a green freshwater alga with high chlorophyll content. This seaweed has been on our planet for longer than we have and is packed with vitamins and beneficial substances to our body. It earned its "jewel of the East" nickname because it is widely grown in Taiwan and Japan, where it thrives in the local conditions, and is, therefore, of the highest quality.
Chlorella lowers cholesterol, strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure and fights the hardening of the arteries due to fat deposits on their walls. It also produces positive effects on our eyes, skin and teeth and is recommended to pregnant and nursing women.
The high content of antioxidants and other beneficial substances helps fight obesity and speeds up metabolism.
